Helping Hands, NJ (HH) is a Chatham-based 501(c)(3) anti-hunger organization dedicated to supporting families through community-driven aid and long-term solutions to food insecurity. Founded in March 2020 by Joann Carroll, the initiative grew from front-porch distributions to a formal non-profit in 2023 with a team of over 30 volunteers.
Over the years, the expansion to the Helping Hands Family Center at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, assisted HH in distributing food, groceries, hygiene products, diapers, infant care items, senior citizen care items, winter wear, home goods, seasonal clothing, holiday foods, Blessing Bags at Christmas and much more. Today, HH provides support for more than 40 local families and hopes to expand to provide wrap-around services like SNAP outreach, nutrition education, job training, and affordable housing resources. The organization is in search of space in the Chatham area – see (Information on Donated Property for Charitable Organizations).
